PANJIM: The Bhartiya Janata Party, Goa will observe ‘Seva Saptah’ (Service Week) from September 14-20, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi turns 70, on September 17.
In the wake of coronavirus pandemic, the party across the country has decided to not hold major celebration or gathering and instead be at the service of the needy.
“We will be distributing fruits to the patients, subject to COVID-19 protocols; hold donation camps, cleanliness drive, tree plantation, awareness on Swadeshi products, etc throughout the week,” BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavde said while addressing a press conference at party head office on Friday. The week-long drive, he said, will be held across all the constituencies.
The party president was asked about the health of AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik, who is admitted to Manipal Hospital since mid-August after testing positive for COVID-19. Tanavde’s only comment was, “He is good.”
He also applauded the efforts of the police in cracking the murder of Margao jeweller Swapnil Walke and the assault at Saw Mill in Anjuna.
