BJP unit wants safety assurance before setting up quarantine unit at harbour

VASCO: Mormugao BJP Mandal on Friday said setting up a quarantine unit at harbour, in the town, is not an issue but Directorate of Health Services should certify that the residents of Headland Sada would not be affected.

Addressing the press here, BJP Block Sanjay Satardekar said, “If the Directorate of Health Services certifies that having a quarantine unit at Harbour will not affect people with Covid-19 and proper awareness and interaction with people, local representatives is done, then, I don’t think people will have any issues.”

Councillor Murari Bandekar said that the panic among locals on Thursday was due to the rumours. He said that the locals objected to a quarantine unit at a thickly populated area, as the virus spreads easily.

He also mentioned that if the government feels the requirement to set up quarantine unit at Harbour, then, the government agencies should take the local people into confidence by creating awareness about the Coronavirus. “They should go ahead with such unit only after people are convinced,” he said.
