PANJIM: Congress leaders and supporters on Friday demonstrated at Azad Maidan, Panjim alleging that the ruling BJP was misusing government machinery against their leader Rahul Gandhi.
Subsequent to Gujarat High Court’s order denying a stay on the conviction of Gandhi’s plea in a defamation case over his ‘Modi’ surname remark, Congress leaders stated that ‘it is murder of democracy’ to hatch a conspiracy against him.
GPCC chief Amit Patkar said that the verdict is unfortunate because Rahul had raised issues of common man in Parliament.
“He had spoken about the relationship between Narendra Modi and Adani. But this ‘Bhrasht Jumla Party’ hatched a conspiracy and disqualified him as Member of Parliament,” he said.
