MARGAO: Aam Aadmi Party national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, while warning people that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah will destroy India if the BJP is re-elected by amending the Constitution first, appealed to Goans to vote for his party candidates to hear Goan issues reverberating in parliament.
Addressing a largely attended gathering at Lohia Maidan he pointed out that BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj recently said 2019 would be the last elections as there will be no elections held if Modi is elected prime minister till he lives.
Further he reminded that BJP President Amit Shah had said that no one will be able to dislodge the BJP from power till 2050 if it is elected at these elections and drew parallels with what Adolf Hitler did in Germany where he changed the constitution and there was no other chancellor elected till Hitler was killed.
He also pointed out that Amit Shah just three days ago said that if his party returns to power they will remove “every single infiltrator from the country with the exception of Hindus, Sikhs and Budhists”.
“What this means is that the BJP will throw out all other religions and I wonder what they will do in Goa which has 11% Muslims and 18% Christians. So will the BJP engineer communal riots to kill the nearly 6 lakh minorities in Goa?” he asked.
While terming mob lynching to be nothing but organised murder Kejriwal cautioned if any mob lynching occurs in Goa it would end tourism as tourists do not like to visit such places. While stating further that Pakistan has been trying to destabilise India since the two countries were formed, he said what Pakistan could not do for 70 years the BJP has done in just five years.
“The BJP government has poisoned Indians’ minds with hatred and suspicion against different religions and this is not only weakening the country but destabilising it,” he said asserting that this was another reason why BJP had to be kept out.
He also expressed surprise that when India and Pakistan were facing a war-like situation recently Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Narendra Modi should be re-elected as the Indian prime minister and said this was because Modi is cahoots with Pakistan.
“When ISI attacked Patankot air base two years ago, Modi wrote to ISI to investigate the case and their team came to India photographed the air base and returned to Pakistan only to give it a clean chit but went back with treasured photographs of the area,” he said.
While accusing the Congress and BJP of being Delhi-based parties where the local leaders just follow the Central leadership, he said AAP’s Goa leadership decides about matters concerning the State and informs others about it.
AAP Goa Convener and South Goa candidate Elvis Gomes gave various examples to expose how BJP and Congress have been in cahoots by exchanging MLAs to keep each other in power and further pointed out that it was Francisco Sardinha who held hands with Manohar Parrikar to bring the BJP to power in Goa in 2003.
“The Congress party that withdrew Form B of the Congress candidate at the Cortalim by-elections to enable Alina Saldanha the BJP candidate to be elected unopposed and the Congress is calling us the B team of BJP,” he said.
He promised to get the birth records in Goa restored to prevent the same from being sold to unknown people who then obtain a Portuguese passport and go to the West.
Pradeep Padgaonkar lamented that none of the three BJP MPs raised issues pertaining to Goa including the Mhadei diversion matter in the Parliament and pointed out that it was thanks to the AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh that a parliamentary committee has been constituted to study the matter now.
Capt Venzy Viegas while referring to the 2017 manifesto of AAP said this is the only party to promise protection of non-resident Goans’ land and also promise social welfare scheme for retired seafarers and appealed to all seafarers and dependants of non-resident Goans to vote for AAP.
