PORVORIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stated that people across the country are looking for a change in political leadership and there is no doubt that BJP will form the government at the Centre.
Parrikar was speaking after inaugurating election office at Mapusa in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, Deputy Speaker Anant Shet, Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Minister for Art and Culture Dayanand Mandrekar, MLAs Michael Lobo (Calangute), Kiran Kandolkar (Tivim), Dr Pramod Sawant (Sanquelim) and Glen Ticlo (Aldona).
“As far as North Goa parliamentary seat is concerned, BJP candidate Shripad Naik will win by a margin of 80,000 to 1 lakh votes,” said Parrikar and added that “Say no to Drugs.”
“The Congress-led UPA government offered step-motherly treatment to Goa. It did not offer ministerial berth to Goan MP nor granted special status to Goa. On the contrary, they stopped mining activities and created financial crisis,” stated Parrikar.
“If BJP comes to power at the Centre, it will be easier for Goa to press for its demand of special status and bigger financial package. Hence, it is essential that people should strive to get both the North and South Goa candidates elected and strengthen the hands of BJP,” said Parrikar.
Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza stated that the fact that people elected six Catholics in the last assembly election indicates that BJP is a secular party.
“The strength of the BJP is its workers, while the strength of the Congress party is money. Congress party will now try to buy BJP workers by offering money, but BJP workers will not fall prey to such offers and they will get Shripad Naik elected for the fourth time consequently and create history,” said D’Souza.
Shripad Naik stated that Congress-led UPA failed to provide good governance, due to which there has been large scale inflation in the country. “Scams have become a regular feature and it has become very difficult for the common man to make both the ends meet due to rising prices of essential commodities. It is essential that there should be change in the government at the Centre,” said Naik.
Mapusa Municipal Council Chairperson Sandeep Falari welcomed the gathering; Dr Sawant compered the programme, while Sudhir Kandolkar proposed the vote of thanks.
