PANJIM: Panjim MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate on Monday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will secure a comfortable majority by winning more than 25 seats in the 2022 Goa Assembly elections.
“Whoever may say anything. I am not bothered because I know what is happening around. BJP will get 25 plus seats for sure irrespective of what others say. BJP will also win all five seats of Tiswadi taluka,” he said.
Monserrate also claimed that all 10 former Congress MLAs who had joined the BJP were satisfied in the party. Nobody is waiting to jump back to the Congress Party, he said and demanded to reveal the name of MLA trying to switch sides.
“Everyone of us came here (BJP) for development and not for self-interest. In last three years we could see development in our respective constituencies,” Monserrate said adding that he will continue and retire in the BJP.
Monserrate who had in the past criticised the Health Department for COVID-19 mismanagement however claimed that COVID management in the State is much better as compared to other States.
The Panjim MLA also softened his stance on Health Minister Vishwajit Rane given that earlier the MLA wanted Rane to be sacked and had criticised him heavily.
Monserrate said that the health minister might have made some mistakes in COVID-19 management earlier but Rane had now corrected the same.
Monserrate said, “Goa government has done its level best to tackle COVID-19 situation. If you look at other States we are much better. Our government is still taking all the measures.”
