BJP’s 3-yr tenure was all about communal experiments: Cong

PANJIM: Congress has alleged that during its three-year tenure the BJP governance has been conducting communal experiments through promotion of right wing Hindu politics by way of beef ban, controversial comments on religion and moral policing.

Terming BJP government’s three-year tenure as one of complete failures, the Congress on Tuesday reiterated its allegation that the BJP leaders along the coastal belts are in nexus with the drug peddlers in Goa.
“The entire coastal belt has been represented by BJP MLAs, under whom the law and order machinery has turned a blind eye to the rampant drug trade which is flourishing in these areas and is now become a threat to the life of hinterland youth,” Congress Secretary Durgadas Kamat told media.
Kamat said that Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Ministers Dilip Parulekar, Dayanand Mandrekar and MLA Michael Lobo are ruling North Goa coastal belt, which is the hotbed of the drug trade. In these areas, the local governing bodies such as zilla panchayats and panchayats are also ruled by BJP supported panels, he said.
“Now it is for the investigating agencies to find out which BJP leaders have nexus with drug peddlers,” Kamat said.
Pointing to the recent day-long hunger strike by Lobo against illegal dance bars, Kamat said that there is complete failure of BJP government and law and order situation.
Kamat said that Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, by accepting the Union cabinet post, has betrayed the hopes and aspirations of the voters, who voted his party to power for five years. “He ran away after failing to keep each promise made during the March 2012 election campaign,” Kamat said, adding that BJP government has made an U-turn on crucial issues such as shifting of offshore casinos, de-notification of Regional Plan 2014, illegal mining and corruption, all issues that had elevated the BJP to power in 2012.
