PORVORIM: The BJP Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral on Wednesday led a scathing attack on the functioning of his government run Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GSIDC) stating that the body is incompetent in undertaking infrastructural works.
“GSIDC does not work properly. They are not at all serious towards their work. They take everything for granted,” Cabral said demanding that the mining corridor phase III project handed over to GSIDC be transferred to Public Works Department (PWD).
The MLA from the mining belt, informed House that GSIDC cannot provide quality and time bound work and hence the project be handed over to PWD. “You may feel bad (pointing to Chief Minister) but it is a fact that the corporation is not serious,” he stated.
Cabral was responding to the Parsekar announcement on the Floor, that the GSIDC is been entrusted with the task of fixing the alignment for the third phase of corridor project from Cavrem to Uguem.
Parsekar said that construction of mining corridors along the iron ore rich area either by mining firms or through utilising the funds collected under the DMF are the proposals under consideration of the government.
The Chief Minister said that in the phase I from Uguem to Guddemol and II from Guddemol to Capxem, the alignment is complete and the works would be tendered on priority. “The phase one project was tendered for Rs 67.75 crores and the work had commenced in 2012 but could not go ahead due to objection raise by forest department and closing of mining industry,” he said.
Parsekar was responding to a question tabled by BJP MLA Subhash Phal Desai, who sought to know the progress of mining corridors and when the project would be completed.
