PONDA: Bhartiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) will be organising a dharna on Monday at Kranti Maidan Ponda to protest the farm bills passed last September.
BKS Goa Chief Shrirang Zamble and Ponda Taluka President Sanjeev Zamble said the farmers are protesting the three farms bills introduced in September last year.
“For a long time BKS is demanding minimum support price for farmers who are facing losses,” said Zamble.
He appealed to the farmers in Goa to take part in the dharnas organised on Monday, September 6 at Kranti Maidan Ponda. He also said that BKS has planned dharnas in every district on Sept 8 after which they will submit a memorandum of their demands to the District Collector.
He said when Central Government issued the ordinance last year the BKS has provided suggestions in interest of farmers and also met Union Agriculture Minister and had submitted a memorandum of the farmers’ demand.
Besides a memorandum was also submitted to PM Narendra Modhi signed by 25,000 farmers around the country but the Central government did not take it into consideration.
The PM’s office had also not taken cognisance of letter submitted by BKS on August 12 this year. Hence a nationwide agitation is planned in order to get minimum support price and justice to farmers, said Zamble.
