CUNCOLIM: Locals in Balli claimed that the ‘elusive ghost of the forest’ – the majestic black panther that often prowled the hilly areas this time has been captured on CCTV in the street.
The sighting has gained significance after a resident Ajay Naik produced photographs of CCTV footages to substantiate his claim about the existence of the big cat.
Local say that the ‘black cat’ was earlier sighted on March 3 and many claimed that domestic animals like pigs, dogs, cats have gone missing since then.
Villagers also stated that the dwindling forest areas in Balli have forced the wild animals to forage for food in the residential areas.
Locals have now called on the Forest Department to trap the big cat at the earliest before it preys on humans.
