PANJIM: CCP Employees Union president Ajitsingh Rane on Monday announced yet another ‘andolan’ in the city which will commence on Wednesday.
CCP’s daily wage workers will be on the streets explaining their grievances to the residents of Panjim. The andolan will be called ‘Chai Par Charcha’ and the workers will provide black tea to the people to publicize the black day.
Rane said, “We will reach out to all 30 wards of Panjim in 15 days and will tell the people what injustice we are facing.” The union has resolved to visit two wards a day, after collecting the city’s garbage.
Rejecting CCP’s offer to hike daily wages by 35 percent, Rane said that even this has not been confirmed by the authorities, and it has only been proposed, not confirmed.
The union has been demanding regularisation of eligible daily wages workers, enhancement of daily wage rate and payment of eight days salary for the strike period in December 2014.
Currently CCP pays a daily wage of Rs 221, which is the minimum wage. The employees have been demanding Rs 409 per day. However, CCP cites lack of funds to not increase wages.
