PERNEM: The government authorities appear to have blatantly ignored the ongoing illegal hill cutting activity near national highway at Kasule-Poroscodem.
For the last many days heavy earth-moving machinery has been pressed into service to carry out the illegal activity of hill cutting while trucks have been transporting the mud excavated from the site.
When questioned by media persons, the workers could not provide any answers whether they had the permission to carry out the respective work.
When media persons asked Sarpanch of Khajane-Amere-Poroscodem panchayat Priti Haldankar whether the panchayat had given any permission for hill cutting, Haldankar denied giving any permission and informed that a written statement will be sent to Pernem Police and Pernem Mamlatdar on Wednesday.
Pernem Mamlatdar Anant Malik said that he will inform the Town and Country Planning Department about the same at the earliest.
