MAPUSA: Pernem police found the body of an unknown person aged between 35 and 40 years floating in the water at Vithaldas Wada, Morjim. Earlier, the police received call at 7.15 am informing that a body was seen floating and accordingly a team visited the spot and conducted a panchanama. According to sources, a group of tourists had come to celebrate the New Year in Goa and on the night of December 31 when they were in an inebriated state, the group had a fight and under influence of alcohol they assaulted the victim and pushed him in the water where he is said to have drowned. Pernem police have registered a case of unnatural death.
The body has been sent to Goa Medical College for post mortem. Further investigation is in progress.
