Body found on Anjuna beach identified

MAPUSA: The decomposed body found on the Anjuna beach has been identified as that of a 25-year-old Malayalam actor Sidhu Pillai. 
The Anjuna police had recovered the decomposed body on the beach on January 12 and on January 14, the actor’s mother identified the body as that of her son.
Earlier, a relative of actor from Calangute had visited the police station to identify the body but failed to identify the same as it was in a decomposed state.
Sources said that the actor had arrived in Goa on January 4 and had stayed at his relative’s place in Calangute. On January 9, the actor had left his relative’s house informing that he was going to Chennai but failed to reach there. 
Since his mother was unable contact him on his mobile till January 12, she contacted the relative in Calangute, who informed her that he had already left their place on January 9. The actor had been reported missing since then.
Later, when Anjuna police issued an alert with the information of a body found at Anjuna, the actor’s mother came down to Goa on January 14 and identified the body on basis of some birth marks. Post-mortem reports confirmed that the actor died due to drowning. Anjuna police conducted panchanama and handed over the body to the family.
Anjuna police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the case.
Sidhu Pillai was a Malayalam actor and had worked in a film ‘Second Show’ in 2012.
