MARGAO: Police personnel with assistance from the locals on Tuesday evening finally recovered the body of 11-year-old Deepak Khatan who had drowned on Monday at Dongorim- Navelim while playing with some friends.
A massive hunt was launched for the boy with locals participating actively and the Fire and Emergency Services personnel were asked to help. However, as they could not trace the body, Navy was asked to assist in the search operation.
Accordingly, a team of six Navy divers arrived with their equipment but as it had turned too dark the search was abandoned last night and commenced at 6.45 am today. However, at around 4.15 pm the body floated near the Mandopa bridge and it was seen by some locals who immediately informed the police and the police with assistance from the locals retrieved the body which has been sent for post mortem.
