VASCO: Bogmalo-Chicolna panchayat body resolved to protect the biodiversity of the village along with the heritage structures. Villagers have come together to protect the interests of local communities from their village and are also likely to give suggestions in new CZMP draft.
Bogmalo-Chicolna Sarpanch Virginia Rodrigues clarified that the panchayat has resolved during the extraordinary gram sabha that the interests of the local communities need to be protected.
“Heritage sites from the village, fish breeding site, natural ecology including Khazan and agricultural land, water bodies, etc, need to be preserved. Priority will be to reduce coastal hazards and risk to life and property from natural calamities such as tsunami, sand erosion,” said the sarpanch.
“We have passed a resolution to include these objectives and forward them to the concerned government authorities for further execution,” she added.
