PONDA: Accusing the Sanatan Sanstha of illegally cutting the hills to make way for roads for the construction of buildings atop Ramnathi hills, Bokadbag locals on Monday yet again marched to the Bandora Panchayat demanding that the “illegal” activity be stopped immediately.

The locals demanded that the panchayat, mamlatdar along with residents conduct a joint inspection of sanstha’s ashram to ascertain and verify the legality of these buildings.

The locals alleged that sanstha has restarted the work by violating the stop work order issued by the panchayat a few months ago following complaints from locals.

Addressing media persons, Saurab Lotlikar said “Few months ago the locals under banner of “Dahazan Sangarsh Samiti” had complained to panchayat which stopped the construction of building and road by levelling the hills.  Besides the main building, the sanstha is constructing more structures and roads by levelling the hills.”

Sarpanch Rajesh Naik said, “I will issue another stop work order for violations if any by sanstha. The sanstha owns the said land. Last time the TCP Department inspected the hill cutting site and submitted a report that the activity was within permissible limits. The panchayat will inspect the site and initiate action for violations if any.”

Naik said, “There are complaints from locals that the some buildings are being constructed close to high tension lines. Following the report from the Electricity Department I have issued notice for necessary action.”

Locals demanded action against the Sanstha members for parking their vehicles on the main road.

The Sarpanch said, “No Parking” signboard will be installed within a fortnight after receiving due permission from the Deputy Collector.”
