Bomb hoax at Customs museum in City

PANJIM: The National Museum of Customs and GST in Panjim received a bomb threat email in the early hours of Friday morning. The email which was sent to all email IDs of numerous museums nationwide was received at 4.40am. The museum authorities immediately contacted Panjim Police.

Panjim Police Inspector Nikhil Palekar stated that they received the call from the National Museum of Customs and GST in Panjim at around 9.45am on Friday. They immediately contacted the Bomb Disposal Squad who closed the museum and thoroughly searched the entire premises of the museum. Fortunately, no suspicious objects were found during the inspection, leading to the museum’s reopening. 

“We immediately approached Panjim police station with a complaint, following which the bomb disposal squad was called in, and the museum was checked for suspicious objects. The email was also sent to IDs of museums across India,” a museum official disclosed.

Details emerged revealing that multiple museum facilities received identical threatening emails. Panjim police have initiated an investigation to trace the origin of the hoax email, aiming to identify and apprehend the sender responsible for the nationwide disruption of museum activities.
