‘Bomb in luggage’ remark lands couple in trouble at Dabolim airport

Vasco: A couple was detained by the Airport Police at Dabolim when they made a false claim stating that there was a ‘bomb in their luggage’.

Anup, a native of Madhya Pradesh and Priti from Calcutta, both 29, were returning to Bengaluru by Indigo flight and were awaiting a security check at the airport.

“ When both were boarding the flight at around 10.45 pm, Priti claimed that Anup had a ‘bomb’ in his bag. This scared the fellow passengers who informed the security officer about the same. The officials then stopped both the visitors from boarding the flight and detained them.

The security officials then inspected their luggage and the entire flight only to find nothing suspicious. The flight eventually departed after a delay of one-and a half hour on Wednesday during wee hours. Police detained both the passengers based on the complaint filed by IndiGo’s manager Augustine.

The duo were charged under section 505 of the Indian Penal Code for public mischief and were subjected to intense questioning.
