MARGAO: ‘Utaache Andolan’, a book documenting UTTA agitation has been published.
Releasing the book, writer and poet Pushpagraj Ashok Naik Tuenkar said, “The book has spoken so much about how sacrifices were made to get the rights from the government. We hope that another revolution like the one started by Babasaheb Ambedkar will begin forcing the country to give up caste systems and stereotypes.”
The book is authored by Prashant Naik and is based on the UTAA agitation of May 2009.
Senior journalist Sushant Kunkolienkar, Editor of Goan Marathi daily Prabhakar Dhage, and others were present at the occasion.
“The writer has touched a sensitive as well as sensational issue of agitation by the Scheduled Tribals of Goa. We hope that the book becomes instrumental in convincing people that the politicians do not want the issues of tribal to be solved, but want them to continue forever for political expediency,” Dhage said.
