PANJIM: The Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (GSCPCR) has directed the Women’s Police station of Margao to book the hotel where a minor girl was recently raped.
The GSCPCR has directed the police to book the hotel under the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act (ITPA), Goa Children’s Act (GCA) and POCSO Act. The commission feels that action is necessary to bring in deterrent measures and stricter vigilance on accommodation, transportation and other tourism-related services in the State.
“The Hon’ble Commission recommends that the hotel be booked under Section 8 (10) (b) of GCA 2003 which mandates that no child shall be allowed to enter any room of any hotel or establishment which provides boarding or lodging or any similar facility unless the child is registered as staying in that room with family, relatives or person related by blood,” said the directive.
A youth from Navelim has been arrested for allegedly feeding the victim, a student of Class 9, with an intoxicant, and raping her in a hotel room in Colva.
