Book on ST leader released

CORTALIM: Padmashree Adv Norma Alvares recently released ‘Justice at the Grassroots – A tribute to Antonio Francisco Fernandes, leader of Goa’s tribal communities,’ a book written by Cyril Fernandes.
Adv B T Venkatesh, State PP, High Court of Karnataka and Hilario Figueiredo, Sarpanch of Cortalim-Quelossim were the guests of honour. Minister for Environment and Forests Alina Saldanha and Bhaskar Rao, Inspector General of Police, Belgaum Range, Karnataka Police were the special guests.
The book covers various facets of the life of late Antonio Francisco Fernandes, considered to be the pioneer leader of the tribal communities of Goa.
Alvares said this is the first time in Goa’s history that a book is documenting the life of a Subaltern hero from among Goa’s tribal community. 
Former ministers Prakash Velip and Alex Luis Cardozo, Adv Guru Shirodkar, Peter Gama, Dr Surya Gawade, Fr Michael Fernandes, Adv Joao Fernandes, Prajal Sakhardande and local Panch Domnic Fernandes were present.
