Boost for Curchorem with Rs 13 odd crores

Foundation stones for two ambitious projects laid in Deputy CM

Curchorem: Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’souza laid foundation stone for two ambitious projects of Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) on Tuesday in Curchorem. Earlier in the day  D’Souza laid the stone for the project of beautification of Carriamoddi ward of CCMC including underground electric cabling, road widening, footpaths, drains and other developmental work which will be undertaken through Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) approximately at the cost of Rs.13 crores. Thereafter D’Souza laid the foundation stone for the new administrative building which is planned at near the public garden, Curchorem.
 According to Chief Officer Fernandes, the administrative building project (Signature Project) will also be constructed through GSUDA at the approximately at the cost of Rs.23.68 crores with three storied. Giving details of the administrative building Fernandes informed that provision for parking around 87 four wheelers and 72 two wheelers is made in the basement and 12 shops on the ground floor including two shops for food court. “On the first floor 300 capacity multiplex (mini cinema theater) and CCMC offices will be housed while on the third floor A/C hall will come which will be used for parties and wedding.” Said Fernandes.
 Speaking at the formal function which was held at Ravindra Bhavan hall, D’Souza appealed the councils to increase their capacity of expending the government funds as on many occasion the funds which government sanction remained unutilized. Congratulating the council, D’Souza further said that local bodies must try to generate revenue on their own without depending much on the government. “Progress can be achieved only when there is proper coordination between the local MLA, Council and the people.”said D’Souza and appreciate the local Councillor (Carriamoddi) Dr. Braganza for taking initiative and getting approval from the government with the help of MLA for the two mega projects during her tenure as chairperson of CCMC. He also appealed the locals to keep a watch on the progress of work of both the project which will commence from next month.
 Addressing the gathering Cabral thanked D’Souza for sanctioning the projects and informed that the new modern fish market will be constructed behind the CADA hall. Making my constituency ideal one and Curchorem city beautiful by providing maximum basic necessities is my dream” said Cabral.
