MARGAO: Fed up with the nuisance created by anti-social elements at the multipurpose school at Borda, citizens from the locality have urged the police to keep strict vigil at the site.
Local councillor Camilo Barreto said that anti-social elements from neighbouring areas hang around outside the school premises, and there are frequent brawls and disturbances reported at the site.
“Many of the boys who spend time here in the afternoon are badly-behaved and this may lead up to gang wars, posing serious problems to the locals, and the student community,” said Barreto. “One police personnel should be deployed here between 12.30 pm to 1.30pm, so that students, especially the girls, can get home safe,” he demanded.
Borda resident Piedade Gomes said that the school management should also take precautionary measures to ensure their students’ safety. Fatorda PI Girendra Naik said that fights between two groups were reported near the Multipurpose school and three accused have been arrested.
