PONDA: Acting on the complaints from the locals over Borim lake pollution, Borim Sarpanch Bhavana Naik along with the villagers inspected the water body and threatened to disconnect water connections in the area if the residents failed to stop releasing waste water into the lake within eight days.
The villagers complained to the panchayat regarding the pollution of the lake on account of the waste water discharged into it by the locals residing in the area.
Stating that the lake adds to the beauty of Borim village, the sarpanch said she inspected the lake following complaints from locals regarding its pollution due to the release of waste water by some locals residing near the lake since past few months.
She informed that the locals release their waste water into the nullah, which later flows into the lake thereby polluting it. Besides, some residents have extended their houses illegally; she said and threatened strict action against the residents if they fail to stop releasing waste water into the lake within a week.
Naik further warned that the panchayat along with health officials will once again inspect the site.
