MARGAO: Aam Admi Party’s juggernaut rolled into coastal Salcete with party leaders accusing the Congress and the BJP for supporting the proposed airport at Mopa.
AAP South Goa candidate Swati Kerkar along with a band of dedicated workers, mostly activists from the district, addressed people at Colva, Benaulim and Carmona before the rally culminated at Cavelossim.
Activists Zarinha da Cunha, Jose Roque Andrade, Rajendra Kakodkar, besides candidate Swati Kerkar interacted with the local populace, encouraging the voters to air their local grievances pertaining to their respective villages.
Kerkar pointed out that the airport at Mopa was started by the Congress and accused the party for doing nothing to stop the airport from becoming a reality. She slammed the BJP-led government for going ahead with the Mopa airport, even as she blamed both the national parties for fooling the South Goa electorate that they are opposed to Mopa.
AAP members urged the voters along the route to support Swati’s candidature saying the new party would be different from the two corrupt parties.
“The Congress and the BJP come to the people once in five years to offer money, alcohol and chicken. They take the votes and disappear only to return back after five years. The AAP is different. We don’t give money or liquor, but allow to participate in the policy making through gram sabhas, take people’s suggestions and enact law and policies aimed at benefiting the common man and
not the political class”, Kerkar said.
