PANJIM: The five bouncers, who were arrested for verbally abusing and man-handling Dr Oscar Rebello during a film shoot on Tuesday were re-arrested as a preventive measure on Wednesday.
PI Rajendra Prabhudesai confirmed the accused were re-arrested and released thereafter. Prime accused Kishore Kandolkar, Swapnil Redkar, Girish Subramanian, Abbas Majod and Durgaprasad Mishra are charged with abusing, manhandling and assaulting the doctor. They were released on bail and re-arrested as a preventive measure, only to be released again.
The Mapusa based security agency ‘Force’ has meanwhile told the police that the men were deployed by one Nilesh Vernekar and not directly through the company.
Meanwhile, the Goa State Human Rights Commission has taken suo motto action in the incident by issuing notices to the chief secretary, director general of police and other state government agencies.
The commission has asked why the public road was blocked and how rights of common men were curtailed. The notices are returnable on July 9.
