VASCO: In a tragic incident, 13-year-old Mahmoud Nizam Shaikh, a standard VII student of St Andrew’s Institute Vasco, drowned on Friday afternoon.
According to Vasco police, the boy had gone to play in sea off Khariwado beach along with his friends when he drowned.
“As per information received, while playing in the water Shaikh suddenly fell down and due to under water current in sea, he started drowning. Locals present at the site rushed to rescue, however could not save his life. His body was later fished out and was sent to GMC hospital for autopsy and doctors in their report confirmed the cause of the death due to drowning,” police told.
The body has been handed over to the family members for final rites and are further investigating the case is in progress.
