Govt has also decided to re-introduce sale of Palm oil to the ration card holders.
Until now only rice, wheat and sugar is been availed by the beneficiaries. Moong, Tur and Channa dal will be initially provided.
Addressing media persons on Monday, Minister for Civil Supplies Govind Gaude said that department has moved a file to the Central government for its node to provide pulses to the BPL families at subsidised rates. “Around one kg of pulses would be provided to the BPL families at the public distribution system,” he said.
Gaude also said that department will also re-introduce sale of palm oil to the ration card holders at subsidised prices.
There are altogether 500 odd fair price shops, all which are fitted with biometric system based point of sales (POS) machines.
Gaude said that due to the network issue, the POS system could not be implemented in toto.
“We are working on resolving the network issue. The network error is major hindrance in the implementation of the project which aims to cut pilferages at PDS,” the Minister for Civil Supplies stated.
