PANJIM: In view of the 8th
BRICS Summit and BIMSTEC meeting, the State government has imposed a four-day
ban on flying objects including hot-air balloons and para gliding from October
14. The BRICS Summit and BRICS BIMSTEC outreach 2016 will take place on October
15-16.
“In view of the scheduled
summit, which will be attended, interalia by the Prime Minister of India
and Heads of States of the participating countries and the presence of such high
dignitaries at the respective venues would require highest degree of security
arrangement including aerial security measures,” the government said in its
order on Tuesday.

The District Magistrate has
prohibited the operation of light or micro light aircraft, UAVs, similar short
range aerial vehicle, low flying objects such as para gliders, hang gliders,
hot air balloons, para motors, aero models, air borne video cameras or drones
and similar short range. The ban will come into force from October 14 and will
continue till October 17.
The government had earlier
restricted water sports activities along the south coastal belt, where the
summit is scheduled to be held. It had also directed the closure of operations
at the Betul mini harbour and fishing trawlers during the event.
