VASCO: A sixty-two-year-old British national Stephen Volter has been booked for overstaying in Goa on Friday. According to Mormugao police, the accused had entered India on June 2016 and his visa expired on March 2017.
After coming down to India, the accused had initiated an all-India tour and had come down to Goa about ten days ago. During routine patrolling, police found Stephen near the Japanese garden and on inquiry revealed that he was staying in India even after expiry of his visa.
He was detained and booked under relevant sections of the Passport Act and the Foreigners Act. The British embassy is being notified and the accused is presently in police custody.
