PANJIM: Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar said he is unfazed about speculations him joining any political party for the upcoming State General Assembly elections.
He said he is devoted to working for the people of his constituency.
The Independent legislator also downplayed the entry into BJP of Savitri, the Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar’s wife.
“Who has gone to BJP or Congress or any political party doesn’t matter me. I am a part of the government and working at my level best for the people of Sanguem,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a press conference on Wednesday.
“Many people are speculating whether I will join the BJP or Congress or contest as Independent the next elections. But these things are not running in my mind. I am patiently performing my duty. I will take a call when the time comes,” he said.
The MLA maintained he would win the next assembly election, too. “My people are with me. They know who have lied to them and who stood by them. When they got Subhash Faldessai elected in 2012 and realised he did not give the output as required, they elected me. I have been devoted to my people and continue to be so,” he added.
