MAPUSA: Mohammed Usman Gaffar, a 22-year-old resident of Ghateshwar Nagar, Khorlim, Mapusa, originally a native of Uttar Pradesh was attacked by two unidentified assailants, while he was out for a walk. The brutal assault left Gaffar with severe injuries, and had to be rushed to the hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants confronted Gaffar, initiating a high pitched altercation that quickly escalated into a physical assault. The situation took a terrifying turn when one of the attackers brandished a knife, inflicting grievous wounds on Gaffar.
Gaffar fled from the scene and was subsequently rushed to North Goa District Hospital by his brother. However, given the extent of his injuries, medical professionals deemed it necessary to transfer him to the Goa Medical College (GMC) for specialized treatment.
Reports indicate that Gaffar sustained extensive injuries, requiring over 65 stitches across ahis entire body. In response to the incident, the Mapusa Police launched a thorough investigation and registered a complaint against the two assailants. The motive behind the attack remains under investigation as authorities work to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for this heinous act.
Mapusa Police Inspector Nikhil Palekar stated that 10 to 12 persons were called for interrogation and they are still on the look out for the assailants. The victim has been discharged from the hospital. The FIR has been filed against the accused under Section 326 (causing grievous injury with deadly weapon) r/w 34 and 506(2) (threatening to kill).
