PANJIM: BSNL contract workers on Monday held a protest demonstration before the office of the general manager demanding immediate payment of their pending monthly salaries.
“In spite of clear instructions from the Office of the Regional Labour Commissioner, Government of India, the Principal Employer, BSNL as well as its various contractors have failed to pay the monthly salary of July, 2018,” AITUC General Secretary Christopher Fonseca said.
He added, “BSNL management has also failed to pay statutory bonus to these contract workers for the year ending March 2017 and March 2018. The contractors are also not remitting the statutory provident fund deductions and ESIS deductions to the authorities in spite of deducting the same from the salaries of the workmen.”
