BSNL told to complete road digging by May 15TEAM HERALD teamherald@herald-goa.comMARGAO: Control rooms set up by the district administration will start functioning at all the taluka headquarters from May 15, with the district authorities directing BSNL to complete all road digging work by May 15 and further directions to the agencies concerned to ensure immediate restoration of the roads to its original position before the onset of monsoon. Additional Collector-I, Venancio Furtado, who chaired a meeting of the disaster management authority, has asked both the municipal and panchayat administrations to ensure that pre-monsoon works are completed at the earliest and to make available labourers to the Fire Services from May 15. The Health Department has been asked to submit the updated list of all the health centres, including community health centres, private hospitals with regard to the number of doctors, staff and beds, besides ambulances and hearse vans available with the centres. Directions were issued to the concerned department to provide good and quality food to the victim in times of a calamity. Furtado issued directions to the line departments with regard to specific preparation, namely drafting action plan to face the monsoon by individual departments; stopping of road digging and restoration of roads to its original condition; cleaning and clearing of all drains, nullahs, culverts etc.
