PANJIM: A five-day session of the Goa Legislative Assembly will be held between February 3 and 7, 2020, during which Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant will present the annual financial statement for the year 2020-21.
A special one-day session is also being called on January 7, to pass the Constitution Amendment Bill, granting a 10-year extension to reservation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies and ending the provisions for nomination of two Anglo-Indians to the Lower House. The Bill has already been passed by Parliament, and State Assemblies need to pass it before January 10.
The cabinet, chaired by Sawant on Friday, accorded its nod for summoning both sessions. “During the one-day session, Governor Satya Pal Malik will address the House and later the Bill will be taken up for passing,” the Chief Minister said post the cabinet meeting.
This is going to be the first full-fledged Budget that Sawant will be tabling in the House in February next.
