MARGAO: The 67-year old builder Sunil Kumar against whom Colva police have registered a case of alleged rape has been granted anticipatory bail by the South Goa Additional District and Sessions Court. The applicant has been directed to give a personnel bail bond of Rs 50,000 and a like surety. He has been asked to deposit his passport with the police, report to Colva police station for 7 days and not to threaten the victim (Russian woman) and witnesses.
Earlier, Public Prosecutor Subash Desai argued that the case is of serious nature and pointed out that offence under Section 376 IPC has been registered against the applicant.
Defence lawyer, Adv Rajiv Gomes stated before the court that his client has been falsely implicated in the case and is suffering from polio and prayed that anticipatory bail be granted to him.
