Bulbul Children’s International Film Fest to be an annual event: CM

MARGAO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday announced that the Bulbul Children’s International Film Festival – Goa’s first film festival focusing on children, will be an annual event and will be held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.

He was speaking during the inauguration of Bulbul Children’s International Film Festival (BCIFF), at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. The film festival will go on till January 13. BCIFF chairman, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, BCIFF Vice-Chairman Damu Naik and others  were present.

The chief minister also spoke about other initiatives taken by the State government for youngsters, such as the promotion of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and touched upon how Goa as a State has been the host to the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and the Science Festival too.

Sawant announced that the State government would soon be reviving the financial support scheme to Goan filmmakers with the relevant modifications. The CM further announced that there would be an exclusive Konkani Film Festival held in the State soon.

“I congratulate BCIFF for organising this film festival in Margao. I welcome all the delegates, spectators who have come to Goa for the festival. I am sure the children and parents shall enjoy carefully curated films. I am sure the scope of this festival shall expand in the future,” Sawant said.

The festival aims to give children exposure to new technology and the visual wonders in the form of VFX, 2D, and 3D animations on film.

BCIFF is set to showcase a diverse selection of 55 films, including 12 competition films, 18 feature-length special screenings, and 25 short films encompassing both competition and non-competition categories.
