Bumpy, potholed roads upset locals

PONDA: With Chaturthi – the biggest and favourite festival of Goans just ten days ahead, devotees in Ponda were annoyed with the government for not repairing the main road here.

“The bumpy and the pot-holded ridden road to the market has made life miserable for motorists and several people have fallen here and sustained injuries,” said an irate villager and wondered as to how people could move around on such dangerous roads.

Pondaitees said they have been suffering for the last five years as roads had been dug for sewerage work and were not repaired till date.

The tender for hot mixing the upper Bazaar road  was issued two years ago but the contractor has failed to do the needful till date as a result of which the public had to suffer for no fault of theirs. Similarly the condition of the Daag Ponda road dug for sewerage work had gone from bad to worse. A source in the PWD however stated that these roads would be repaired only after the rains.

Although the jet patching machine is introduced and some of patchwork has been done, the pot-holed ridden roads are still crying for attention.
