BICHOLIM: Mayem has successfully turned into a tourist attraction, more specifically for the adventurous sport — bungee jumping – which resumed in September.
Though, the newly-installed thrilling activity of free-falling and rebound, had to be closed couple of times because of COVID-19 pandemic-induced lockdowns and restrictions, it has peaked up tremendously since the tourism has opened for good in the State.
“Being an adventurous person I love to try different adrenaline activities. I am thrilled and happy after experiencing the bungee jumping. They provide higher safety standards and give confidence to us that we are in safe hands,” said Neha Shukla, an adventure lover.
Another enthusiast Rahul Yadav, who was visibly thrilled to have discovered activity at Mayem Lake, was equally mesmerised by the view of lake and trees.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic travel was restricted and people are doing revenge travel without thinking of the new variant of the virus. Taking care of all the safety precautions is highly recommended for everyone’s safety,” said Yadav.
Colonel Rahul Nigam, the founder of Jumpin Heights claimed that staff is completely vaccinated and travellers being mandated either a vaccination certificate or a recent RT-PCR negative report is allowing for travellers to feel safe.
“Goa has always been a favourite holiday destination and during such a trying time, is taking all due precautions to maintain the safety of visitors, which is encouraging tourism into the State once again,” said Nigam.
Jumpin Heights was launched in 2010 by Nigam, with an endeavour to introduce the youth and adventure enthusiasts to extreme adventure sports and bring it on a commercial scale to India with international safety standards.
Built above the glorious River Ganges, Jumpin Heights is host to India’s highest bungee jumping platform (83 metres). Consequently, it has changed the face of extreme adventure in the country, including the way organisational safety is perceived in India. Jumpin Heights opened doors to its second location in Goa in August, 2019.
