PANJIM: In a sudden development, the State government on Wednesday kept the transfers and postings of 23 junior scale officers of Goa Civil Service in abeyance until further orders after some of the ministers expressed their strong displeasure at the transfer order.
On Monday, o n the recommendation of the Goa Service Board and with the approval of the government, 23 junior scale officer of Goa Civil Service had been transferred.
Besides, transferring 23 officers, a few other officers were also given additional charge and all the officers were asked to complete the process of their handing over and taking over within five working days and submit compliance.
Also the transfer and posting of eight officers were to be effected upon resuming of duties by the concerned officers from the ongoing departmental training.
But some of Ministers expressed their anger over the transfer of officers of their choice and demanded that their transfer be cancelled and they be retained at the existing postings. They also took the issue before the party leaders complaining that officers attached to their departments were transferred without their notice. They demanded that the concerned Ministers should be consulted before any such transfers, particularly when elections are fast approaching, are planned or made.
Following this Joint Secretary (Personnel) Meghana Shetgaonkar on Wednesday issued another order keeping the transfers and postings of 23 junior scale officers of Goa Civil Service in abeyance until further orders.
