MARGAO: DIG Ranganathan on Tuesday conceded the frequency with which burglaries and robberies are occurring in the state is increasing, but said that the police have identified areas vulnerable for burglaries and robberies and intensify patrolling.
The DIG was huddled with the district police chief Shekar Prabhudessai, DySP Margao Mohan Naik, DySP Vasco Lawrence D’Souza and the police station in-charges of Maina Curtorim PI Harish Madkaikar, Margao PI Sudesh Naik, Cuncolim PI Ram Asare and Verna PI Parab in the district police headquarters following the daring Nuvem robbery.
“The police have increased patrolling in the Nuvem area and efforts are on to apprehend the miscreants,” the DIG told the media after the meeting.
Asked whether the police suspect any local or outstation gang behind the robbery, he said the police are working in the Nuvem case from all angles, adding that the miscreants must be certainly keeping a watch on the activities of the inmates for some time.
“We are working on a two pronged strategy, one to strengthen patrolling and to detect the case. We have prepared a list of suspects in the case”, he said.
