While the Colva police claimed that the burglars managed to lift away imitation jewellery worth around Rs 1.20 lakh, sources said that the owner of Jewellery shop “Ladakh Antiques” Mohammed Shaffi maintained jewellery items worth lakhs of rupees were missing. The Colva police are verifying the claim and have asked the owner to produce the purchase bills.
The incident occurred last night when the miscreants effected entry into the shop through the roof.
The incident came to light in the morning when the owner came to open the shop. He found cupboards ransacked. The land lady stated that they went to sleep at 12 midnight on December 4 and found the premises burgled in the morning.
Police informed that two years back, the shop was
gutted in a suspicious fire destroying it.
