MARGAO: Burglars made their presence in Sao Jose de Areal village last night as they targeted around four houses, while succeeding in decamping gold ornaments and cash from one house.
The incident came to light early morning when inmates of a house woke up only to find their belongings ransacked. Their worst fears came true when they realised that the miscreants had decamped with gold ornaments and cash from the house.
The miscreants are also believed to have entered into another house and lifted away cash from a purse. The miscreants are reported to have effected entry into the house through the rear door, but could not lift away any valuables.
The incident came as a shock to villagers, who later reported the incident to the Maina-Curtorim police.
