BICHOLIM: The woes of Mayem residents with regards to roads seem never ending as now bursting water pipelines add to their miseries.

For the last few months the main road that passes through Mayem connecting Bicholim and Poira has been under ‘experiment’ by many agencies. First one side of the road was dug to lay water pipelines and later the other half was dug for something else.

By the time this digging work was completed the mining transportation started and the residents now complain that along with pollution they have to face constant bursting of pipelines.

“Due to heavy mining transport the road and underground water pipelines are totally damaged. At least at four to five places the pipelined have burst and even the PWD officials are fed-up and claimed that they do not have the required workers to do the repair works every day,” said Kalidas Kavlekar a resident.

“The officials are least bothered and we don’t know whether the local MLA knows about this. People are not getting water in their homes because of this constant bursting of water pipelines. Till this mining transport is stopped there will be no solution to this problem,” said Kavlekar.

Another resident, Shivanand Gadekar suffers the same problem. He claims that for last three days the water went waste near his house and the authorities did nothing. The locals have thus asked the MLA to look into this matter and resolve the issue.
