PONDA: A bus proceeding from Panjim to the Ponda bus stand suddenly got trapped in one of the trenches dug up by the cellular companies to lay cables. However, the passengers escaped with minor injuries.
It is learnt that the passenger bus driver was trying to make way for an oncoming vehicle when the incident took place at around 10 pm. The passengers were caught unaware as the bus suddenly stopped on side of road after the rear wheel got trapped in a trench. Panch Rajesh Naik alleged that while digging the road the panchayat members are not informed about the same and as such they cannot interfere in the matter. He said the authorities issuing permission for digging should ensure that the roads are restored on time.
He claimed that several such trenches along the roadside posing danger to lives of commuters in Ponda.
