VASCO: Goa First, an NGO has complained to the Transport Department, Deputy Collector and Goa Human Rights Commission against Vasco-MPT Colony and Vasco-Bogda bus operators for overcharging passengers and for not plying their buses after 8 pm causing great inconvenience to senior citizens.

After the unlock, these buses have stopped plying after 8 pm on both the above mentioned routes causing hardship to commuters as there are no buses plying after 8 pm and people have to walk the distance to reach their respective destinations or avail expensive mode of transport, the complaint mentioned.

Further, the NGO had stated that especially the elderly and women face such hardship. Now it’s more than 4 months as these buses have stopped plying along these routes due to the blessings of some politician. Secondly, these buses are overcharging customers more than 50% fare to travel less than 3 kms and beyond. Thirdly, on Sundays and public holidays, these buses halt at the Vasco market for more than 30 minutes as a result there is collapse of entire transport facility during holidays and festivals.

“We have found that this entire syndicate of bus operators plying on this route have taken the people for granted as most of the low income people are totally dependent on this mode of transport which is overcharging them, no time table is followed and the Transport Department is fully responsible for such activities,” the NGO charged.
