CANACONA: All Goa Private Bus Owners Association Executive Member Anthony Pereira, who represents the private bus owners from Canacona taluka, has appealed to other bus owners to support the BJP in the parliamentary elections.
According to Pereira, the State government led by Manohar Parrikar has honoured various demands put forth by the bus owners and has resolved three major issues in the interest of the bus owners.
“The government sanctioned a subsidy of up to Rs 6 lakh for bus owners to replace their old buses with a new 32-seater bus. The government also agreed to provide us subsidy of Rs 3 per km for a maximum of 70 kms per day, to cope with the losses that we are incurring due to a hike in diesel prices,” said Pereira.
“The State government has also come out with an innovative insurance scheme, where the government will bear 50 per cent cost of insurance amount, which is a huge financial benefit to the bus owners, presently struggling to keep their business running,” Pereira told Herald.
Pereira also informed that all the bus owners are behind the government and will support and garner votes to BJP candidate Narendra Savoikar. “Similarly, I also appeal to all the bus owners/operators in the rest of South Goa constituency and North Goa to support and vote for BJP candidates,” he added.
