PERNEM: Pernem Police on Tuesday registered an offence against three private bus staff for not stopping at Patradevi checkpost for routine COVID-19 check.
Police informed that the bus driver speeded through the checkpost at Patradevi escaping the routine check. They have been booked under Sections 269, 188, 279 of Indian Penal Code.
According to Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, at around 9.15 am, one Maharashtra registered bus driver speeded through Patradevi checkpost in a rash and negligent manner. However, the alert police staff chased the bus and brought it back to the checkpost.
Upon checking, all the passengers onboard were found neither possessing COVID-19 negative certificate or vaccinated with both the doses. However, since the bus had not stopped for checking, it violated the guidelines laid down by the State government.
Hence on the basis of complaint given by Executive Magistrate Satyawan Harji, an FIR was registered and bus staff consisting of two drivers identified as Samir Ambekar, native of Ratnagiri and one Sagun Naik, native of Aronda, Maharashtra along with conductor Siddharth Shinde, native of Borivali, Mumbai are placed under arrest.
The private bus is also taken into custody by Pernem Police.
Separate arrangements were made by Pernem Police to ensure that all the passengers reached at their destinations.
