By-election to Ward V of Sirsaim panchayat today

PANJIM: The by-election to Ward V of the Sirsaim village panchayat will be held on Sunday, January 28. The polling will be held from 8 am to 5 pm at the designated polling booth i.e. Government Primary School, Sirsaim (East Wing).

A total of 350 voters including 171 men and 179 women will seal the fate of three women candidates in the fray. The ward has been reserved for women candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities.

The Goa State Election Commission had declared by-election to two wards i.e. Ward V of Sirsaim panchayat and Ward IV of Arpora-Nagoa panchayat. However, Julius D’Souza was elected unopposed from Ward IV of Arpora-Nagoa panchayat. Julius is the son of former sarpanch late Augustinho L T D’Souza, who passed away in September last year causing a vacancy in Ward IV.
